“Travels with Darley” made it to Saratoga! For those unfamiliar with the PBS show, it follows Emmy Award-nominated host Darley Newman as she travels the globe discovering impressive locales and enjoying the local experience of food, history, and so much more. As thrilling as it is that Darley came to Saratoga, it’s even more exciting for us because she visited two of our construction projects! Watch below to see Darley tour Caffè Lena around the 9-minute mark, and then visit Whitman Brewing at 18 minutes in.
We’re thrilled to announce Bonacio Development’s Amber Mathias, Director of Project Development, has been named in Albany Business Review’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2024! Amber has had a meteoric rise at Bonacio Development. In over just three years, she has gone from Development Coordinator to Project Manager to Director of Project Development, managing a growing team of project managers and running complex multi-tiered effort projects, including The Lodge at Schroon Lake and Brookmere. A big congrats to her on this well-deserved recognition! As part of this distinction, Amber also participated in a video with fellow class members, sharing her thoughts on the future. Plus, she celebrated with colleagues and family at an awards luncheon. See below for more.
Team Bonacio was back behind the bar at Shaken & Stirred 2024! We all donned our best firefighter fits as we competed to raise the most funds for children and family programming at Universal Preservation Hall through The Collaborative School of the Arts. While we started fundraising before the event, the night of is always fun with games to play and shots and cigars to sell. While we didn’t take home the winning cocktail shaker this year, we were delighted to raise $17,127 for UPH. It was also a stellar year of competition as UPH reached its fundraising goal, with all teams raising $72,325. A big thank you to everyone who supported us and made this another wonderful Shaken & Stirred!

This past Monday, Bonacio Construction and Bonacio Development employees lent a hand to a nonprofit neighbor in need, Franklin Community Center! The center’s food pantry garden needed some TLC, so we replaced the deteriorating garden beds with six newly built garden beds and three raised garden beds. We also built a new ramp to the garden shed, which replaced the four cinder blocks the center had been using. Check out the before and after of this project in the video below.
A big thank you to our hardworking team, who got the job done!
It’s always a pleasure for us at Bonacio to be an event sponsor for Saratoga Sponsor-A-Scholar’s Annual Derby Day Fundraiser Party. Not only is it a great way to kick off the upcoming summer event season, but all funds go toward SSAS’s mission to help motivated students complete high school and continue to college. Through SSAS’s programming, scholars receive mentorships, academic support, financial assistance, and enriching opportunities. This year was even more memorable as Sonny and Julie’s children, Gianna, Will, and Luca, joined them in supporting this vital organization. See more pics by Joe Putrock for the Times Union here.

One of our favorite spring traditions is touring Saratoga Springs High School students from Karen Cavotta’s Civil Engineering and Architecture class through our active job sites. This year, we began at the site of Amsure’s new headquarters on Woodlawn Ave. Project Manager Cody Hinrichs was the tour guide for the students as he explained the renovation work underway to transform the building into modern office spaces. Next, Senior Project Manager Greg McCauley and Site Superintendent Shane McClelland toured the students through our work at The Residences at the Adelphi Hotel. Students got a lesson in fire protection as Shane explained our ongoing work in the basement before heading up to see some in-progress and completed condos. The progression from framed to drywalled and then complete condos made quite an impression on this curious new generation of students interested in the trades. We look forward to welcoming a new class next year!
