Each spring, Bonacio Construction has the pleasure of touring Saratoga Springs High School students from Karen Cavotta’s Civil Engineering and Architecture class through some of our downtown Saratoga Springs job sites. We knew exactly which sites to show them this year, starting with 78 Church Street Condominiums. The students interacted with Senior Project Manager Greg McCauley, Project Manager Amanda Pelfrey, and Site Superintendent Joe Poppiti to observe the progress of the five-story, steel-framed building. This year’s class appreciated exploring future condo locations and learning about the interconnection of MEP systems. Next, we guided the class to the AC Marriott Hotel on South Broadway, a podium construction building with three upper floors of wood framing over structural steel. Starting in the basement, Senior Project Manager Greg McCauley, Project Manager Cody Hinrichs, and Site Superintendent Mike Stevens led the students through the four stories, highlighting the new heat pump technology installed in the hotel rooms and detailing the building’s features. We thoroughly enjoyed engaging with this large group of students interested in the trades and look forward to welcoming a new class next year!
