Northshire Bookstore’s 10th Anniversary Ribbon Cutting

Ten years ago, we were in attendance when Northshire Bookstore had a ribbon cutting celebrating their grand opening in Saratoga, and now we’re doing it again! This time Boncio Development’s President Larry (below in black polo) and Director of Business Development Kate (below in pink shirt and gray cardigan), and Bonacio Management’s Property Manager Jess (below in denim dress) were on hand to celebrate its 10th anniversary. We are always pleased to see thriving businesses in our buildings and are thrilled by their ongoing success. It was also a pleasure to be joined by the Office of Jim Tedisco, City of Saratoga Springs Mayor Ron Kim, the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, and Saratoga National Bank & Trust.

Introducing Brookmere Resort

Brookmere Resort

Brookmere ResortWe’re pleased to announce our new project at 500 Union Avenue in Saratoga Springs, Brookmere Resort! On the former Longfellows Hotel & Restaurant site, our development arm, SpringCity Development Group, is bringing a new take on the property’s hospitality tradition. We’re expanding the site’s footprint from 65,000 SF to 90,500 SF and transforming the space into a resort that will house an 88-room hotel, a 200-seat ballroom, The Arbor Spa, and a 65-seat restaurant which will be open to hotel guests, spa guests, and the general public. Construction starts in June, with a completion date scheduled for Fall 2024.

Brookmere Resort was designed by Balzer & Tuck Architecture and The LA Group, with interior design by Sims Patrick Studio. Love & War is consulting on branding and marketing. Hay Creek Hotels will manage the resort.

Bonacio Donates Bikes to Corinth

We love giving back to our local communities, so when the Town of Corinth Youth Commission asked if we’d like to donate bikes and helmets to its Annual Family Fun Day, we jumped at the chance! Our PM Greg (second from left in first picture) and Site Super Mike (far left in first picture), who are working on the nearby Riverview Apartments project with RISE Housing and Support Services, went right over to Corinth’s Town Hall with a truckbed of 10 bikes for all ages. Some lucky local kids then got a chance to win these bikes through a raffle at the Family Fun Day, and we hope they are enjoying them! 🚴

Shaken & Stirred 2023

The Bonacio team in black cowboy hats celebrating our win

This year for Shaken & Stirred, we at Team Bonacio did our best Yellowstone impressions and channeled our inner cowgirls and cowboys for the night. Our fundraising didn’t start last night, though. We began collecting donations weeks ago in preparation for the event. Our efforts were also well worth it as we raised $17,860, making us the night’s winners! In total, all the participating companies raised $55,000 for Universal Preservation, with the funds going toward bringing family programming to UPH through The Collaborative School of the Arts. Thank you to all who donated, came out to see us, and helped make this year’s Shaken & Stirred a night to remember! We’d also like to give a special shoutout to Gianna Bonacio, as she was the mastermind behind our involvement, from our fundraising efforts to our Yellowstone theme.

See more pics below and here on UPH’s site.

35th Anniversary Party

For our 35th anniversary, we just had to have a party for our employees, and where better to have it than one of our favorite projects, Universal Preservation Hall! We had a great spread of catered food provided by PDT Market and desserts by Indulgence Bakery. After mingling for a bit, everyone was ushered upstairs for a presentation by Sonny. He regaled the crowd with stories from the past 35 years, showed some old pictures of just how far we’ve come, and brought attention to two future leaders of the company in the audience, two of his children, Gianna and Will. Gianna is an Assistant Project Manager with our development team, while Will has recently been promoted on the construction side to Assistant Project Manager. We had a fantastic time and are excited to see where the future leads!

Rebuilding Together Saratoga County Volunteer Day

We’re always happy to help a neighbor in need! That’s why we teamed up with West Side Management and Rebuilding Together Saratoga County to help fix up an elderly couple’s home in Ballston Spa. Here is a sampling of the work we did:
  • Repainted the home’s front exterior and trim
  • Installed a piece of the aluminum facia that had blown off
  • Added water diverters
  • Replaced the rotted rear door to the main house with a sliding door
  • Put in exterior handrails leading from the back steps to the patio
  • Replaced the roof on the back screen porch that was badly rotted
  • Investigated a soft spot on the screen porch’s floor
  • Did yard work, including spreading new mulch and spring cleaning the garden and backyard
It’s amazing what we managed to accomplish all in one day! A special thanks to our team members for pitching in:

SSHS Students Tour Rip Van Dam Site

Every spring, we have the pleasure of hosting Saratoga Springs High School students from Karen Cavotta and Justin Zampella’s Civil Engineering and Architecture class at one of our job sites. On last year’s tour, the students didn’t see much of our Rip Van Dam site, so we dedicated their whole trip to it this year. Our Project Manager, Greg, and Site Supervisor, Jack, acted as tour guides, showing the students around the project. The students saw structural steel fabricated by the Bonacio Metal Shop being set by our subcontractor, American Iron & Crane, on the back of the building, peeked inside a nearly completed hotel unit, and traveled to the third floor to see the decking and steel up close. We can’t wait for next year when we get to host a brand new class of curious students interested in the trades.
