Caffè Lena
In 2016, Bonacio Construction partnered with the historic Caffè Lena in Saratoga Springs for a philanthropic partnership to renovate the 57-year-old coffeehouse. As part of this partnership, Bonacio updated the existing building by removing and replacing the roof and raising the floor. Along with this, Bonacio did a complete renovation of the 2nd floor by taking it back to the original studs and brick and creating a brand new space, all while preserving history. The iconic sign from the exterior of the building was brought in and hung on the interior wall. Actual walls from the original space were cut out and framed as art in the hallways of the new entry. The exterior of the building was painted and a new front entry was created. Bonacio Steel created the iron gated area out front as well as the stair railings inside. In May of 2018, they were awarded a Building Rehabilitation Award.
