The Keenan Building
In Bonacio Development’s first strategic acquisition in downtown Troy, it purchased The Keenan Building with the intent to provide new residential opportunities for people who want to live in a walkable, urban environment. With the growing presence of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy and the ever-increasing commercial demand, Bonacio Development was confident that the time was right to buy the property. Built in 1882, the historic Keenan Building is a mixed-use property located in the heart of downtown Troy. Once the original home of the Troy Young Women’s Association, this historic 3-story building held office spaces until Bonacio Construction renovated them into 14 apartments over street-level commercial space. Modern features in this property include granite countertops and ceramic tile bathrooms in each apartment. Working with our architect, Bonacio Development successfully obtained historic tax credits through the National Parks Services’ and State Historic Preservation Office’s Standards for Rehabilitation of Historic Structures.
